GCSAA’s mission is to advance the Golf Course Superintendent profession and while doing so improving communities through the enjoyment, growth and vitality of the game of golf.
As a member I have participated in several of their education based certificate programs. Completing the Assistant Superintendent Certificate Series (ASCS) in the Winter of 2020. The ASCS is composed four certificates covering Agronomy, Business, Leadership & Communications, and Environmental Stewardship. I next attempted the Equipment Management Certificate Program (EMCP) which was a greater challenge but expanded my view of the golf maintenance meld. Level 1 is composed of exams covering cutting units, drivetrain systems, electrical systems, engine technology, hydraulic systems, metalworking & fabrication, spray systems, and fundamentals of turfgrass operations. Level 2 covered all the topics from the prior level in one comprehensive exam.
