About
I started my career in the golf industry unknowingly in the caddyshack at Doylestown Country Club nearby my hometown of Chalfont, Pennsylvania. I worked in the bag room and cart barn as well before I became interested in turfgrass management when I began to look at colleges. Penn State was easy choice given its proximity and it had a well respected turfgrass science program. I spent the summer after high school working on the grounds crew at Doylestown learning the basics.
College Years
I took those early golf experiences with me to Penn State choosing to major in Turfgrass Science. During summer breaks I completed internships each year at two of Philadelphia’s great golf courses; Aronimink Golf Club and Pine Valley Golf Club. These internships built practical experience on top of the great classroom learning.
At Penn State I worked part-time, to help with school costs and to play golf. One job was at the public 36-hole university golf course. At the Blue & White courses I assisted with normal course maintenance as well as projects including tree removal and irrigation installation. Spring of my senior year I worked in collecting Annual Bluegrass Weevils, a top pest in the northeast. It was good field experience in scouting their movements in the spring from their winter habitat onto the golf course to get proper control with chemical applications.
Currently
Upon graduation I took an Assistant Superintendent position at the Maidstone Club on the east end of Long Island, New York. Located along the Atlantic Ocean and meandering back to the club house along Hook Pond it is a special place to play golf and work. We strive to maintain the course in the classic links manner with firm and fast conditions. Fairways receive minimal chemical and fertilizer, and rarely supplemental irrigation. Greens are firm and with speeds that fit their “golden-age’ contours. I enjoy playing the golf courses regularly, and regularly enjoy a peaceful round at twilight.

Off the Golf Course
I enjoy surfcasting for striped bass on the beach, and kayaking in the bay for fluke. I also enjoy hiking and mountain biking on the local trails. In the winter I enjoy skiing in the Poconos and New England.
